The Advantest TR4133 / TR4133A / TR4133B spectrum analyzers
are microprocessor – based intelligent spectrum analyzers covering a broad frequency band from 100 kHz to 20
GHz. With an external mixer (accessory) the TR4133/4133B provide further expansion in the measuring frequency
range. The TR4133 has no external mixer. The TR4133/4133B use to first-stage mixer: a 100 KHz to 3.6 GHz balancing
mixer and a 10 MHz to 20 GHz (3.5 GHz to 20.0 GHz for the TR4133B) harmonics mixer. The low-loss balancing mixer,
featuring a low average noise level of -118 dBm (with a resolution bandwidth of 1 KHz), permits precise measurement.

The harmonics mixer enables frequencies up to 20 GHz to be measured
by mixing the fundamental wave from the first local oscillator with harmonic waves. The higher the order of
such mixing, the greater the conversion loss, impairing sensitivity. A 4 GHz to 8 GHz tuned oscillator used
as the first local oscillator in the TR4133/A/B provides lower-order mixing, assuring precise measurement of
frequencies up to 20 GHz.

The Advantest TR4133 / TR4133A / TR4133B spectrum analyzers have a
built-in counter for frequency measurement. A marker function permits reading frequencies and levels in digital
form.
The TR4133A / TR4133B with a built-in preselector provides a 100 dB
dynamic range in harmonics measurement (frequency band 3.5 GHz to 20 GHz.) All switches can be remote controlled
by GPIB interface supplied as standard. The current setting of the spectrum analyzer’s functions are displayed
on the CRT screen. A hard copy of display image can be produced by connecting the VIDEO OUT terminal on the
back panel to a video plotter.
The TR4133 / TR4133A / TR4133B spectrum analyzers feature an easy to operate key layout, in which three primary
controls (center frequency, frequency span, and reference level) are centralized in the panel. These controls
automatically set the IF bandwidth, sweep time, and input attenuator to optimum levels, simplifying the process
of setting frequency observation conditions.
